Deuteronomy 28:12-13
Step up to the Inner Circle – Deuteronomy 1:6-18

Intro:

The people closest to us determine our level of success.

Moses learned this lesson in the wilderness, so he implemented a “plan” to put
competent, godly leaders next to him.

When ministers decide to be leaders, they cross a very important line. They no
longer judge
themselves solely by what they can do themselves; their value and success
depends on what they can achieve through others.

Here in this training session, Moses teaches us that leaders must:

I. See the Land – Deuteronomy 1:6-8
THIS IS VISION. Moses saw and reminded everyone of the Lord’s
faithfulness. God would fulfill this promise. Moses could clearly see the
outcome, and He motivated others by his vision.

II. Share the Load – Deuteronomy 1:9-12
THIS IS DELEGATION. Moses chose to set his ego aside and share his
leadership
responsibilities with others. He would give them the Responsibility,
the Authority, the
Accountability to do the work. The task (ministry) now became a team effort.

III. Select the Leaders – Deuteronomy 1: 13-15
THIS IS LEADERSHIP. Moses chose his inner circle from among the
spiritually qualified,
approved and appointed to their abilities.

IV. Structure the Leadership – Deuteronomy 1:13-15
THIS IS ORGANIZATION. Moses established a system in which the leaders
were to:
1. Listen fairly
2. Minister boldly
3. Make decisions based on principle
4. Refer the most difficult cases to him
