New Year’s Resolutions

Beginning the year with a focus

Do you guys make New Year’s Resolutions?

Let’s play “resolution detectives” – Everyone write down your top resolution
on a sheet of paper (if you don’t have one, write down an important goal for
the year) Each person will get a chance to guess it. If they guess correctly,
write their name on your paper with a “yes” next to it, if they get it wrong,
write their name with a “no” next to it.

Do you keep your new year’s resolutions? Why or why not?

When thinking about the New Year ahead, what is really important?

Let’s talk about “resolutions of eternal significance”
What do you think this means?

1 Peter 2:23-25 (The Message)
They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered
in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to
carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right
way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who
you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the
Shepherd of your souls.

In this new year, dare to be different, dare to be special. Write down some
“resolutions of eternal significance” that you will strive to accomplish this
year.
