Building Healthy Relationship with your parents

par·ent
–noun
1.
a father or a mother.
2.
an ancestor, precursor, or progenitor.
3.
a source, origin, or cause.
4.
a protector or guardian.

Why should we obey our parents?

(Exodus 20:12)
Because God promises you a long life.
“Honor your father and mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

Besides a “long life”, what other promises are hidden in this verse?

(Colossians 3:20)
“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”

You honor your parents by showing them respect. You don’t have to like to everything your parents say, or agree with it. But when you respect their wishes, you are honoring God.

Why else?

Give me some example of what your parents have done for you…..

Does it sound like some of these things deserve some respect?

Do your Parents Trust you?

What is the last nice thing you’ve done for your parent without them asking?

Try it -You’ll feel good and be honoring God at the same time!!
