Reward vs. Inheritance

What can I expect from my labor?
2 Corinthians 5:10

Every one of us needs to remember that we will all face the judgment seat of Christ.

This event is not the Great White Throne Judgment mentioned in the Book of Revelation, for that judgment concerns sin and every Christian has passed through that judgment based on Jesus’ work on the cross.

At the judgment seat of Christ, we will be rewarded for the LABOR we give after our conversion. Paul mentions the testing of our work.
(1 Corinthians 3: 12-15; Ephesians 6:8)

Note the differences between Inheritance and Rewards:

Inheritance

Based on Jesus’ merit
Given freely by God’s Grace
The condition: being a son or a daughter
Salvation is based on birthright
We must have faith in Christ
Secure

Reward

Based on our service
Given in proportion to our work
The condition: being a laborer
Blessings based on obedience
We must be faithful to Him
Pending

Conclusion:

The Bible teaches that rewards in Heaven will be handed out justly, but not equally. Our degree of faithfulness and labor determines our heavenly
reward and responsibility. (Luke 19:11-26)
